The Centre’s
Mission
is:
· The teaching of Maritime Law and continuing education for the benefit of all sectors of the Shipping Industry (lawyers, owners, charterers, financiers, brokers, insurers, traders, master mariners, naval architects, and engineers).
· The provision of a neutral Forum for cross-fertilisation of ideas between multi-disciplinary experts, for challenging and constructively advancing the law and regulations by dialogue and research.
· The creation of an international community comprising academia, maritime institutions, governmental organisations, the shipping industry, the judiciary and the legal profession.
· The facilitation of an interface between the shipping industry and students of shipping law and the development of professional links.
· The furtherance of the interests of the international maritime community by:
o Providing opportunities to its members to meet and exchange ideas for new initiatives.
o Promoting reform in shipping law and legislation
o Undertaking research projects for governmental bodies and the industry on current issues of maritime law, the environment and policy.
o Raising awareness of all sectors of the industry in legal and commercial risk management.

and its services as the leading centre of shipping, insurance finance and the law.
